Becoming a HelpMyNest pro.
Everything that happens between opening the application and accepting your first job — in the order you’ll actually see it.
Free for providers. Free for customers.
HelpMyNest doesn’t charge providers to list a profile or receive requests, and doesn’t charge customers to submit one. You and the customer arrange pricing and payment directly — HelpMyNest is never part of that transaction.
Two ways to start.
Apply with email
Go to Join as a Pro and fill out the four-step form below. You’ll create a password as part of Step 1.
Continue with Google
From Sign in → Apply as pro, choose Google. Your email arrives pre-filled and already confirmed, and Step 1 skips straight to your business details.
From application to your first job.
Here’s exactly what happens, in order — nothing skipped, nothing oversold.
Tell us who you are
A short identity check before anything else — this is also where your login gets created.
- Legal name — your name, not your business's
- Display name — what customers see, e.g. “Marco’s Plumbing”
- Email — confirmed with a 6-digit code sent on the spot
- Phone and ZIP code — where you're based
- Create a password — 8+ characters, one capital letter, one number
Your email is already verified and pre-filled, and there's no password to create — this step is just legal name, display name, phone, and ZIP.
Choose up to 5 trades
Pick from HelpMyNest's current categories — Plumbing, Electrical, Heating & Cooling, Cleaning, Landscaping & Lawn Care, Locksmith, Home Renovation & Remodeling, and more. Five is the maximum, not a suggestion — you'll get an on-screen note if you try for a sixth. Some trades unlock a couple of extra questions specific to that work, only where it's actually relevant.
Say where — and how — you work
- Service cities — pick the cities you cover across the Bay Area & Central Valley; if yours isn't listed, flag it and we'll reach out when we launch there
- Travel limit — 15, 30, or 50 miles from your ZIP
- Response time — the turnaround you're committing to: within 1 hour, 4 hours, or 24 hours
- License number — required only for Locksmith; optional elsewhere
- Insurance policy number — optional
- References — optional, up to two
You'll also upload a license document here before you can continue — it goes to a private file admins review, and it's a record-keeping step, not a check against the state licensing board.
Credential fields are self-reported — whatever you enter is shown on your profile as-is. HelpMyNest doesn't independently verify license or insurance claims against any state database.
Review and go live
A summary card shows your display name, trade, and phone back to you. Check the box agreeing to the Provider Agreement and Privacy Policy, then hit “Go live” to submit. This is also where it's spelled out plainly: you're applying as an independent business, not a HelpMyNest employee, and pricing, scheduling, and payment happen directly between you and the customer.
We take a look
You'll land on a confirmation page right away. From there, an admin reviews what you submitted — this is an administrative completeness check, not a background check or a license-board search — and either approves or reaches out. Applied for a city that's not live yet? You're placed on a waitlist instead, and we'll contact you when it opens.
Sign in and finish your profile
An email lets you know you're approved. Sign in with the password you created in Step 1 (or Google, if that's how you applied) — then round out your dashboard profile:
- Logo — and up to 3 work photos
- About / bio — up to 1,000 characters
- Hourly rate — and average response time
- Service hours — day, evening, overnight, or 24 hours
- Social links — up to 7, including an optional BBB profile link
Get your first job
When a homeowner submits a request, you'll get an email with their details. Accept or decline it from your dashboard — once you accept, you and the customer work out scope, pricing, and scheduling directly. HelpMyNest never handles payment between you two.
Ready to apply?
It takes about ten minutes, and there’s no cost to get listed — not now, not later.
